
Course Description
Academic Instruction
Over two summers and the one intervening academic year, Teacher residents will receive instruction on thousands of Montessori lessons in subject areas including: math, geometry, sensorial, practical life, art, music, movement, geography and more.
Lesson Practice and Observation
Teacher Residents enagage in weekly lesson practice and observation cenmenting their academic learning into practice!
Student Teaching and Coaching
Residents will complete 120 hours teaching as a lead guide or co-lead guide in a Primary multi-aged Montessori classroom. Ongoing weekly coaching supports teachers in further reflecting on and developing their practice.
Album Preparation and Exams
PMI-Oakland supports teacher residents in the preparation and completion of all "Albums". "Albums" are a comprehensive collection of the Montessori lessons included in the training and necessary for the instruction of students at that level
